SERVICE ENGINEER

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Service Engineer – Solar to join our renewable energy technical team. This role involves installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support of solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical/solar knowledge, hands-on field experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Setup
• Install, commission, and test solar PV systems (rooftop/ground-mounted)
• Ensure all solar panels, inverters, batteries, and BOS components are installed as per specifications
• Configure inverters and monitoring systems
• Provide on-site training to customers on system operation and basic maintenance

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Perform routine preventive maintenance of solar power systems
• Diagnose and rectify faults in panels, inverters, wiring, and batteries
• Monitor system performance and identify efficiency issues
• Replace faulty components and carry out necessary repairs
• Respond to breakdowns and service calls within defined SLAs

Customer Support & Relationship Management
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers
• Provide technical support through phone, remote monitoring, or site visits
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely service
• Educate customers on solar system care, safety, and best practices

Technical Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate service records, site reports, and maintenance logs
• Prepare installation, commissioning, and service reports
• Update performance data in monitoring or service management systems

Inventory & Parts Management
• Handle tools, testing equipment, and spare parts responsibly
• Track spare parts usage and report requirements for replacements
• Coordinate with stores/procurement for solar components

Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
• Work closely with installation teams, designers, and project managers
• Participate in technical training on new solar technologies and products
• Share field feedback to improve system design and service quality

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Renewable Energy
• Proven experience as a Solar Service Engineer or similar role
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, and batteries
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and travel to sites
• Excellent communication and customer-handling skills
• Familiarity with solar monitoring platforms is an advantage
